Shakey's Scallop Primo Pizza at Newest Branch of Shakey's Park Square Makati Philippines. Shakey's Pizza is the first franchise pizza chain in the United States founded in 1954 by Sherwood Johnson and Ed Plummer. Their signature products are their thin crust pizza and chicken n mojos. The chain currently has about 500 stores globally, and about 50 in the United States mostly in the West Coast while the Philippines has the most branches at more than 170 and some of them are even 24 hours. It was first franchised to the Philippines by San Miguel Corporation 1975 to help promote their San Miguel Beer and what memories I had at their first branch on Makati Avenue. In 1987 they sold the franchise to International Family Food Services held by the Prieto Family. Just recently in March 2016 the Prieto Family sold Shakey’s to Century Pacific Group the tuna canning company of the Po Family and GIC the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Singapore for PHP 15 Billion or $US 300 Million. Today we visit the newest Shakey’s branch in the Philippines opened on November 15 2017 at Park Square Makati to try out their Scallop Primo Pizza and have their good old Chicken N Mojos.
